The Art of Ukrainian Sixties is a research on one of the most fascinating periods of Ukrainian Soviet ‘unofficial’ art and is comprised of texts and artwork that correspond with the key figures of the so-called unofficial or nonconformist art communities of Kyiv, Lviv, and Uzhhorod and also includes a separate extensive overview of the Odesa School. Twenty six scholars of different generations ,schools and professional Miley’s have contributed to this book. As such it represents not only a panorama of Ukrainian unofficial art of the 1960’s but also a singular survey of contemporary Ukrainian art scholarship in all of its polyphonic glory. The visual works have been provided by the courtesy of Ukrainian museums, private collectors and the artists’ studios.
