Vasyl Yermylov was a designer from Kharkiv who specialized in industrial design, book and magazine illustration. Yermylov's work merged constructivism with traditional Ukrainian art. He was particularly inspired by Ukrainian plakhty (skirts) and wall paintings found in village homes (khata). Look closely at the decorative motifs - you'll find symbols of the Tree of Life and floral elements reminiscent of Ukrainian Cossack Baroque embroidery.
