Bakhmut Creative Workshop “Oberih” supports craftspeople from Bakhmut and coordinates projects to safeguard  and promote traditional Ukrainian arts,crafts and cultural heritage in eastern Ukraine.After Bakhmut was destroyed by Russia ,the artisans became displaced throughout Ukraine, but they continue their work and activism.Crafts made by the Workshop artisans include traditional Ukrainian dolls, Motanka,beaded necklaces,tote bags,aprons and more.           

Bakhmut artisan Tatiana Holts has been a member of Oberih since 2010 and part of the community of craftspeople of the Donetsk region.Her specialty is corn husk dolls,each of which reflect different personalities.She says the dolls are a way to delve into the history and traditions of ancestors,while also creating something new. In creating the dolls,she thanks nature for its beauty.

The Bakhmut artisans are grateful to share their work through the Ukrainian Museum.
